New Polk Audio Show Car
Wins Two Awards at SEMA '03
Civic wins best in class awards
from Meguiar's and Mothers

November 11, 2003 - Baltimore, MD - Today Polk Audio announced that their Honda Civic Si show car that debuted last week at the SEMA show was honored with two best in class awards, one from Meguiar's and one from Mothers.

Meguiar's, makers of premium car care products, sponsored the "Hottest Rides" competition in which a panel of automotive journalists choose the best vehicles displayed at SEMA. Polk's wild Civic Si show car won the "Best Modified Import Sports Compact" prize, one of only four awards presented by Meguiar's. Thom Voisinet, head of the three-man team of Polk installers, took home a $1500 cash award and will appear on a future episode of Meguiar's "Car Crazy Television."

Mothers, another leading maker of superior car care products awarded the Polk Civic a "Choice Award" for excellence in automotive design in the Sport Compact class. Three judges from the automotive industry scoured the 1.1 million square feet of show floor to evaluate the 350 cars entered in the competition. Judging criteria included overall appearance, attention to detail, integration of custom and stock elements, paint finish, vision and execution of the initial concept.

The award-winning Polk vehicle is a 2003 Honda Civic Si hatchback that includes extensive exterior, interior and performance upgrades. The car was transformed into a wide-body with the use of a Versus Motorsports/Pure Styling "Superstreet" body kit. An APC carbon fiber hood, custom carbon fiber roof and rear hatch with shaved door handles, rain rails, antenna, and rear license plate, complete the exterior transformation. The paint features House of Kolor Tangerine Kandy paint front end fading to Orion Silver Metallic with painted custom Polk/MOMO logo and graphics. Engine modifications include a Rev Hard turbo kit and front mount inter-cooler, Nology Engineering spark plugs and wires along with an A.C.T. Clutch and Flywheel. The suspension features MOMO Quasar II 20-inch rims mounted with RSX 5-lug conversion kit and BF Goodrich 255/35 R20 tires. SSBC Big Brake kit with Polk/MOMO logo custom engraved in front calipers provide the stopping power while APEXi coilovers, Suspension Techniques front and rear sway bars and APC front strut tower bars provide true sports car handling.

But what makes this vehicle so special is the over-the-top interior work and In-Car Entertainment system designed and executed by Polk Audio's crack in-house install team: Thom Voisinet, Josh Claar and Kevin Henderson. The system includes 2 Polk/MOMO 8 inch subwoofers in the all carbon fiber custom dashboard, five pair of Polk/MOMO mid/high range speakers, six Polk/MOMO 15 inch subwoofers, ten Polk/MOMO amplifiers (totaling 4200 Watts RMS power output), Alpine DVD player and 5.1-channel digital surround processor. 17 inch and 9 inch widescreen video monitors are mounted in each rear quarter panel window-the larger monitors displaying the DVD output while the smaller displays the Sony Playstation II video.

The car will be used to promote Polk Audio aftermarket automotive speakers and amplifiers at events coast to coast. Photos of the car can be viewed online: http://www.polkaudio.com/car/installs/view...wpolk.php?id=20
