Well ive decided as a summer project im going to drop a tripple in the rev to try new and wonderful things...

Im looking at probably a 809 (or 780) based engine somewhere in the 1000cc range. Not quite sure yet if im going to find an old motor and rebuild it or just buy one built from a shop (like crankshop or price)

Anyone have some experience with the bigbore 780/809 based engines?

Well i think ive found my baby!

Dmax built a 1200cc (809 based?) tripple rev that lays down 275hp, now that is a drag sled so if i did go this route it would be a little more conservative on the porting!

Other than that, ive been looking at the price perf packages...

The Dmax idea is out the window, those guys are booked solid right trough next winter!

I had an inquiry in at price and they got back to me, looks like they are able to build and supply me with a complete drop-in engine. Hes got a line on a donor motor from one of his buddys, once he gets that straightened out hes going to give me complete details on what we can do.

Apparently they build some wicked 809/1100s and 809/1200 strokers!

Ill check into iamtomasi, ive heard that name come up a couple of times before but couldnt remember what it was!

Just alittle advice, we have run some of there stuff 925 and they don't take well to long hard pulls.

My belief is that the rods are to short, but I think they build a 975 that uses 670 rods.

Another guy to try is don emery at DNE he builds big triples up to 1700cc

Apparently the setup he wants to sell me is a 809 base (same rod/stroke) with their 1100cc jugs.

Not sure what the exact setup is but they also do a 1200 stroker on i think same jugs.

Maybe i will maybe i wont. They want $5500 +2g for the donor motor, so im looking at around $8g+ by the time its complete and shipped up here. Dont know if its worth it or not really...

As for long pulls, how long are we talking...? Im not much of one to hold it to the bar for much more than a few seconds anyways, if i want to do 150mph for a 50mile stretch ill go jump in the car!

Ill check into DNE, but one thing i have to stick with is a 780/809 based engines because im not going to drive across the country to have some pipes fabbed up!

Iantommasi builds 800's with almost as much power. My bud had one built over the winter for the asphalt and it dynoed at 229 hp as an 800. We are hoping to get out this weekend and break it in at Cayuga.

Jeeze, wish i had seen this earlier...

Had a real hectic summer, i was home for maybe 2 or 3 weeks all summer!

No time to do anything with the sled, let alone a tripple swap boohoo.gif

For now im going to be keeping the turbo and tinkering around with it till it blows up! Im also looking at purchasing an '09 summit x 154 800r to play with. I figure it would be a decent machine for backup and im also planning on hitting the hills this winter and i dont know how well the turbo would do with only a 136" track, god knows its got enough power to keep it spinning at mach 5 though! haha
